Restorative & Cosmetic Dentistry in Pembroke, Ontario
Do you have cracked, broken, misshapen, or damaged teeth that make you reluctant to smile? Dr. Bruce Harle and his professional team offer restorative services and cosmetic dentistry to restore your teeth to normal appearance and function.
RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY
Restorative dental procedures are especially effective for patients who have experienced slight to moderate decay or damage. Treatment can include either direct fillings or indirect fillings. Direct fillings are made up of either composite (white) or amalgam (silver) materials and are placed in a single appointment.
Sometimes oral damage or disease is more extensive and the patient will be better served with an indirect filling such as a crown (cap), which completely covers the tooth and provides a full coverage restoration. Indirect fillings are fabricated in a dental laboratory, are typically composed of a porcelain/ceramic material, and usually require 2 appointments to complete.
COSMETIC DENTISTRY
Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you, but if the condition of your teeth make you feel self-conscious you may be reluctant to smile. If your teeth are broken, chipped or discolored, stained, malformed, crooked, worn, abraded, cracked, pitted, widely spaced or uneven, cosmetic dentistry could provide a solution.
Depending upon the extent of the damage, a cosmetic smile makeover can be accomplished in various ways:
Direct Fillings: We use tooth-coloured composite resin bonding to restore the appearance and function of damaged or diseased teeth. Direct fillings are accomplished in a single appointment.
Porcelain Veneers or Crowns: Porcelain veneers employ a thin shell of porcelain similar to a press-on nail to improve the look of damaged teeth, while crowns provide full coverage. These restorations are fabricated with the help of a dental laboratory and usually require 2 appointments.
TEETH WHITENING
Do your teeth appear dull or discoloured because of tobacco, coffee or tea, or other factors? Dr. Harle offers teeth whitening options that can be performed in our office or at home.
In-office: In-office teeth whitening usually takes 45 – 60 minutes per session and requires 1 to 2 sessions. The dentist or hygienist will apply a whitening agent to your teeth, which is allowed to remain in place for the duration of the appointment. A heat source or high intensity light source is occasionally used to enhance the process.
At home: Teeth whitening at home requires the application of the whitening solution to a custom-formed tray or mouth guard made specifically for you. The trays are placed in your mouth and left there for a predetermined length of time.
Some teeth whitening products demand a short duration application twice daily for up to 2 weeks. Others are intended for overnight use for up to 2 weeks. Your duration of use depends on your initial tooth shade and your desired goal.
Dr. Bruce Harle and his professional team use modern techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to provide you with a smile that enhances your personal appearance and improves your self-confidence. Contact us today to book an appointment.
